They might as well have changed the name "Krypton" to "Terminus", reused the scripts, and called it good.

It's like the writers read the back covers of the books and then just decided to keep some of the names. But for the most part, they just appear grafted on. I understand, there were prequels and other sequels and Asimov tried to retrofit story lines from other series into Foundation, and it's possible that some of the added plot elements come from those sources. Things happen that not only weren't in any way part of the original novels, but don't make sense in context and aren't that interesting to watch. This is, of course, much easier than trying to keep track of multiple character arcs. There are scenes that could have been character building, but characters remain exactly the same afterwards. Besides, dialog like "AAAAAHHHH" is so much easier to write than, you know, real dialog. You could see the writers going, oh, it''ll be fine, she'll be in a bathing suit for most of it, and that'll keep eyes on screens. Lingering on a shot for too long, repeating sequences and dialog, panning across a scene multiple times, long after they've made their point.Ī perfect example of this padding is an entire episode of the Gaal Dornick character freaking out. This is about writers trying to stretch 3 episodes of material out to 10 episodes. This is not about a series struggling to adapt the source material.
